Abate
to lessen in intensity or degree.
Example:-
Rather than leaving immediately, they waited for the storm to abate.
Mnemonic:-
Rebate means discount i.e. reducing the price .... abate and rebate are rhyming words.

Aberrant 
Abnormal behaviour; deviating from the norm.
Example:-
Sitting in a bathtub and singing songs all day long might be considered an aberrant behaviour.
Mnemonic:-
a bear ant i.e. a ant who is drunk will deviate from the normal path.

Abscond
to run away; usually includes taking something or somebody along; to steal off and hide.
Example:-
The accountant absconded with the cash from the safe.
Mnemonic:-
Ab + second ----> 'Absent in a second' 
When you will absent in a second? = When you steal off and hide, or when you depart secretly.

Accolade
an expression of praise
Example:-
In hollywood, "Oscar" is the highest accolade.
Mnemonic:-
It sounds like chocolate .... parents accolade if kids do home work properly.

Acerbic
sour or bitter in taste.
Example:-
Noted for her acerbic wit and gossiping, Alice had a pillow in her home embroidered with the legend "If you can't say something good about someone, sit right here by me."
Mnemonic:-
acerbic sounds like acidic. Lemon is acidic which is sour and bitter in taste.

Acumen
quick, keen or accurate knowledge or insight
Example:-
Capable lawyers with business acumen are valuable to any firm.
Mnemonic:-
acumen sounds like IQ-men.. men with high IQ have ability to judge quickly (has keen insight).

Adulation
excessive praise; admiration; excessive flattery.
Example:-
The rock star thrived on the adulation of his groupies and yes-men.
Mnemonic:-
An Adult Boy flattering with his girlfriend.

Aesthetic
artistic; dealing with or capable of appreciating.
Example:-
The beauty of Tiffany's stained glass appealed to Alice's aesthetic sense.
Mnemonic:-
aes sounds like Aishwarya, so everyone appreciates the beauty of Aishwarya.

Aggrandize
to increase in intensity, power or size.
Example:-
The king aimed to aggrandize himself by spreading excessive rumors of his wealth and power among his subjects.
Mnemonic:-
aggrandize ---- > aggressive grand size -----> to increse in size ----> to increase in power.
     
Alacrity
eager and enthusiastic willingness.
Example:-
I came to NY city with alacrity to see statue of liberty.
Mnemonic:-
Alacrity sounds like "AT + LAST + IN + CITY"
a person who is first time to see the city is excited and eager to see the city.
  
Ameliorate
to make better; get better; improve
Example:-
The editor ameliorate the manuscript with his changes.
Mnemonic:-
In movie 'Amelie', Amelie tries to improve other's life.

Amenable:-
agreeable; responsive to suggestion.
Example:-
He was amenable to any suggestions that came from those he looked up to; he resented advice from the inferiors.
Mnemonic:-
Amen is a word used in islam and christianity meaning of which is I agree. So, amenable means something to be agreed.
  
Anomaly
deviation from normal order, form or rule; abnormality
Example:-
If you are a breeder of black dogs and one puppy comes out pink, that puppy is an anomaly.
Mnemonic:-
a(No) + normality = Abnormality

Approbation
approval
Example:-
A princess might only consider marrying a prince that is met with her father's, king approbation.
Mnemonic:-

Archaic
outdated; associated with an earlier, perhaps more primitive, time
Example:-
Making women wear skirts long enough to cover their ankles is an archaic form of dress.
Mnemonic:-
Archealogy - study of old things.. Archaic - The old things on which we study..

Arduous 
characterized by the effort to the point of exhaustion; especially physical effort; testing powers of endurance.
Example:-
The workers worked their arduous way up the mining valley.
Mnemonic:-
arduous ----> read it as "hard to do for us."

Assuage
provide physical relief, as from pain
Example:-
This pill will assuage your headaches.
Mnemonic:-
Ass means Donkey.
So, Donkey usage give huge relief by carrying load.

Astringent
having a tightening effect on a living tissue; harsh; severe
Example:-
Sally had an astringent life due to lack of physical exercise.
Mnemonic:-
the word to look for is "string" in astringent....what is a string used for? to bind to things together ... so have a tightening effect. Similarly in home, if a father has a tightening effect on his children, then he is harse, severe.

Audacious
daring, fearless, unconventional
Example:-
Audacious bids were made for your wallet last week.
Mnemonic:-
When you go for some audition, you are daring and unconventional.

Austere
severely simple; ascetic; stern(expressive of severe displeasure)
Example:-
The room reflected the man, austere and bare, like a monk's cell, with no touches of luxury to moderate its austerity.
Mnemonic:-
a + us + tere -------> usne tere pyar mein sab chod diya and led a SIMPLE LIFE without comforts.

Avarice
greediness for wealth.
Example:-
They will be the deserved victims of their own avarice.
Mnemonic:-
a very rich person is normally greedy.

Aver
to state as a fact; to confirm or support
Example:-
I would aver that I am a fan of Yahoo. 
Mnemonic:-
A VERy confident statement!
