Dearth
insufficient quantity or number.
Example:-
Because there was a dearth of evidence, the district attorney had to drop the charges.
Mnemonic:-
dig + earth --> if you dig the earth, it will be small in quantity.

Decorum
polite or appropriate conduct or behaviour
Example:-
Because we will have very special visitors in our class today, I expect you to behave with decorum.
Mnemonic:-
DECO (dekho) yaar, RUM pine ke baad, there is very little possibility that you will be in ORDERLINESS and GOOD MANNERS, CONDUCT. 

Demur
to question or oppose.
Example:-
There was no reason for demur; there was no law against it.
Mnemonic:-
Damn U R wrong , I object.

Derision
mock; scorn; ridicule; contemptuous treatment
Example:-
The proposal was held in derision by members of the board, evidenced by several snickers heard throughout the room. 
Mnemonic:-
deri se ane wale ki mocking hoti hai

Desiccate
to dry out or dehydrate; to make dry or dull
Example:-
The plants would certainly desiccate in the absence of rain for weeks.
Mnemonic:-
desi cake is always dried up.

Didactic
intended to teach or instruct.
Example:-
My friend was being didactic when he talked about his disagreement with Rap music.
Mnemonic:-
Didi always acts in a way like she is teaching something.

Dilettante
an amateur who engages in an activity without serious intentions and who pretends to have knowledge
Example:-
In the end it was clear that the candidate was a dilettante and knew nothing about history, economics or women's issues.
Mnemonic:-
divide it like dilett+ante(aunt)...dilett(sounds like DELIGHT)......so your AUNT who does painting just becoz she gets DELIGHTED BY DOING THIS..BUT SHE DOES NOT HAVe any interest in it to persue it further as her career. 

Discordant
not in agreement; conflicting
Example:-
Discordant sound Of human voices there, Which seemed to me like wild geese cackling in the air.
Mnemonic:-
dis(no) + cordant(coordination---->agreement) -----> no agreement

Disparage
to belittle
Example:-
He never missed a chance to disparage his competitors.
Mnemonic:-
dispa-rage can be read as display a rage. When you display your RAGE on your juniors you BELITTLE them in front of the others.
   
Disparate
fundamentally distinct or dissimilar.
Example:-
Disparate bunch of songs on my hard drive that defy classification.
Mnemonic:-
Dis(this) + parate(parrot) is different from others. But how? It can talk!!!

Disabuse
to set right; to undeceive; to correct a false impression.
Example:-
I will attempt to disabuse you of your impression of my client's guilt; I know he is innocent.
Mnemonic:-
disabuse is opposite of abuse.

Discretion
the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offence or revealing
confidential information; ability to make decisions freely.
Example:-
Viewer discretion is advised.
Mnemonic:-
discrete means seperate ..... that is we are separate and are not dependent on anyone.

Disinterested
indifferent; free from self- interest.
Example:-
Being disinterested, the judge could make a fair judgement.
Mnemonic:-
Dis-Interest :- if a particular issue is not of any interest to me (dis - interest), I will pass a biased
free opinion about it.

Dissemble
to disguise or conceal
Example:-
She is an honest, sincere person with no need to dissemble.
Mnemonic:-
The word sounds like "resemble"...the person/ a thing of tat type can be in disguise...

Divulge
to disclose something secret
Example:-
If the contents of the report are divulged to the public, the results could be disastrous for our company.
Mnemonic:-
A girl asks u what is that bulge ( rhymes with vulge) in your pant ,then u reveal or show it

Dogmatic
characterized by assertion of unproved or unprovable principles; stubbornly opinionated.
Example:-
Politicians of both the extreme right and left annoy me because they do not sound like people
but parrots mindlessly repeating dogmatic cliches.
Mnemonic:-
if you read "dogmatic" from back to front, you will read it as "I am God.". The person who thinks himself God is arrogant and stubborn.
